The kids aren't dressed, the beds aren't made, the house is a mess, my hair isn't done, the projects I was going to work on today are untouched and Jarom is probably going to have to pick up some In-N-Out on the way home for dinner. Why?
Because the UPS man came this morning, and I can't seem to stop playing with my new friend, Nikon D80:

What a weekend! And darn it, a fast one. It flew by, despite the 4am/3am bedtimes. I didn't even get to do half the things I was hoping to do while I was up in Utah, and didn't get to see all the people I wanted to see. There just weren't enough hours in the day!! I guess the only thing to do is take another trip soon. Maybe this time with a few tagalongs. :-) I sure missed them. The wedding was beautiful, Melina looked gorgeous, and between Ashley's and Elena's there was a LOT of sewing, more laughing and almost no sleeping. So, so fun.
Here are a few pictures from the weekend. I didn't take nearly enough. However, I did get a few good ones, some a little more embarrassing than others (Nadine...) that just might come up at a later time. You just never know...

Did I mention that it took me almost twice as long to drive home as it did to drive there? That was because I pulled over for three naps on the way home. I guess that much fun comes with a price. Totally worth it.
And on an unrelated note, I've been thinking about upgrading my camera to something with a few features I've been drooling over for a while now. That means I've got a Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens that needs a good home. I'm probably going to list it on Craigslist next week, but if any of you are interested just shoot me an email and make me an offer. There is only one condition- you would have to promise to love it as much as I have. And that is pretty much impossible...
EDIT: That was fast! A new home has been found, and let me just say, I think this camera will be just as loved in its new home as it was in its old one. In fact, I'm pretty much positive.

Okay, okay, I'm pretty sure there isn't anybody left out there who doesn't know of my love for all things Moda. It's true. And a little embarrassing, especially since by now I should probably be a little more cool and nonchalant about it. But really I feel a little like Buddy the Elf sometimes ("I'm in love I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!"). I still pinch myself every so often because I can't believe how lucky I am to be a tiny part of it all.
So anyway, I thought it would be fun to post about a few things you might not know about if you don't check the Moda site as frequently as.... others do. ;-)
So here are 3 things you should check out:
1. First, subscribe to Angela's blog Moda*Home*Mom. She'll keep you posted about the goings on of Moda far better than ever could. Plus she's fun, cute and crafty. It's a win-win.
2. Be sure to check out this video if you have ever been curious about the fabric process, it is facinating! I got to see a lot of this up close when my mom and I visited Dallas and let me tell you, it is amazing! Check it (and the other videos, while you are at it) out and be amazed. Have I ever told you about our trip to Moda? I should! In the meantime, here are a few pictures:

Have you ever tried to take pictures of a new haircut? I just did. In the mirror, actually. It was tricky.
And yes, posting these violates my normal rule of "as few pictures as possible of me on the blog." Anyone else have that rule? Hmm... Anyway...

And last but not least, finally, the one that worked. But still the one that I look at and can hear my mom saying "Your nose is wrinkley. You aren't going to like this one." Ahh... she knows me well.
Have I ever mentioned that my Grandpa O. called me 'wrinkle nose' when I was growing up? It's true.
So what do you think? I wasn't so sure last night when I tried to pull it back in a pony, but I think its growing on me...

You may have noticed that the past few months I have been lagging a bit. Blogging, replying to emails, sewing, designing... Lets just say, its been a tough few months, but me and my thyroid are getting along a little bit better now, so hopefully I can get back in the saddle. What saddle? The staying up late sewing my heart out saddle, of course. I've missed it...
So, my amazing mom put out 6 fabulous new patterns a week or two ago, and I was lucky enough to get a fresh batch in the mail. Not only that, she threw in a little surprise. Okay, a big surprise- the iron that I have been coveting since Market- The EuroSteam. LOVE this iron! LOVE my mom! THANKS mom! (Isn't she the best?)
A few nights ago I sat down and started sewing so I could try out my new toy. A few minutes and some teeny-tiny pinwheels later, and I started itching to get designing again. And what should come the very next day?
A fresh batch Moda(licious) fabric! I'm telling you, this is some FABULOUS stuff! Hope they don't mind me giving you the tiniest little sneak peek of a few of favorites before it debuts at Fall Market. I can't wait to dig in!

This is our first house.
It is nothing fancy, but it is ours. When we bought it six months ago, it was brand new. A blank slate. About a week before we closed, I went to the house by myself and slowly walked from room to room, decorating each room in my head, trying to figure out how to make it our home.
Because it was the first time I was allowed to paint, I went nuts. It wasn't even five minutes after we got the keys that I started to paint the walls in my sewing room. Next, the family room. Then the kitchen and hallways, then the downstairs bath. Then Market craziness, then more painting this summer.... I just couldn't stop. (Click here for an embarrassing number of home posts) But it just never seemed done (even thought it is apparently plenty dusty...geesh)
I was always trying to figure out how to finish. What the house needed to really feel finished.
Yesterday the landscaping in our backyard was completed, and late last night I opened all the blinds to the windows that used to look out at a big dirt hill. When I woke up this morning, and walked through my bright, cheery house, going slowly from room to room, it just felt like ours. Felt like it was finished.
Felt like I never want to leave.
Just... felt like HOME.
