I've been a little on the bummed side the past few days. See, Quilt Market starts tomorrow, and I'm not there. Darn it. When I started by business, I decided that while by boys were small I would only go to Spring Market. Today I'm wondering what I was thinking! ;-) Good thing I've got a couple little reminders tugging on my arms to remind me. Sure love these little guys.
Anyway, I was sitting here wishing I was at Market when I remembered, Amy over at Park City Girl is holding the annual Bloggers Quilt Festival over at her blog. (Pssst- go join!) That means I can spend all kinds of late night hours perusing quilting blogs. (Seriously, join) Hooray! So here is my favorite quilt at the moment. It changes frequently. I'm in this Rouenneries mood lately, possibly since I've been itching to start on this quilt Lissa made. YUM. Since the actual quilt is vacationing over at Material Girls at the moment, I'll have to use pictures you may have already seen. (Sorry about that)
The inspiration for this quilt? Believe it or not was this cake:
I like cake. Now, I know it isn't the most gorgeously made cake (I've said it a million times I know, but I am not handy in the kitchen, to say the least), but after I cut a piece for Jarom and saw the red/white/aqua combo it was love at first sight. You know me and red and aqua. Love.
I knew it just had to be made from a Layer Cake, so some drafting, math and a few crumpled up sheets of paper later, and Red Velvet was... born?
I can't wait to have it back in my house, and I have the perfect spot just waiting for it.
And there you have it- my favorite quilt.
Why do I feel like I'm cheating on all the others?
Thanks for the fun distraction Amy!
PS- Monica is hosting a NMG (non market going) party over at the Happy Zombie this weekend. If you can't find me, I'll be there. She's really fun to shop with, by the way. And also, I'm bringing the Route 44's. My specialty.
