Spring is pretty crazy around here. But now that I think about it, it is always crazy around here! You have probably figured that out by now. It is pretty rare these days that I get to sit down and sew something just for fun. Which is exactly the reason I have loved Friday Features so far. I can justify sitting down a making a couple of quilts just for fun. Deadlines, schmedlines, right?
(Side note: I really encourage you to try adding schm- to all your words. It's really fun, and will drive your family bonkers. And it works for everything. Everything, schmevrything. Family, schmamly. See? :-) Let me know how it goes.)
What was I saying? Oh yeah, recreational quilting. And how much I miss it. And how much I love being able to sew just for fun for Friday Features. And that today is Friday Feature. Did I not mention that?
Yep, today is another Friday Feature! And a special one, because this month, there are TWO different quilts. Yep a two-fer. Two different patterns. Today is all about Jelly Filled.
Aaaand Pint-Sized Jelly Filled!
Which is the smaller/sweeter/honey-bunnier version of Jelly Filled. Not to mention, the pattern also includes a Pint-Sized Wild Thing quilt as well. Which means it's a two-fer all on its own.
So to get started... (I'll try to keep the chatter to a minimum) here is Jelly Filled out of Dolce by Tanya Whelan of Grand Revival...
Instead of using all prints, I alternated between prints and white Moda Bella Solid. I am pretty darn happy the way it turned out. So light and springy.
Don't even ask about the quilting. Lets just say, I was WAY too ambitious on this one. That is a big quilt, and pretty dense quilting for my little muscles and sewing machine.
By the time I finished, my poor little Bernina was so tired, and my shoulders were aching. But it was worth it.
Tracy made this baby version of Jelly Filled out of Verna by Kate Spain (for Moda) and I am dying over it. I loved Verna, (love Kate!) and love this quilt!
She has kits available in her Etsy Shop, and some Verna Jelly Roll goodness as well.
You've seen this Jelly Filled lots of times, it is the original one out of Sweet by Urban Chiks for Moda.
It lives up there on my header, so that should tell you how much I like it. It also lives on my red polka dot chair, so some pretty prime family room real estate, as far as family room real estate goes at our house.
And a few Pint Sized ones...
The first Pint Sized Jelly Filled was out of Wonderland by Momo for Moda, which just happens to have been re-released a month of two ago. I love this line!
Last but not least, another one out of Arcadia, which might be my favorite out of the bunch. Maybe because its his favorite out of the bunch.
Or maybe because I love how the wiggly quilting turned out.
My quilter Andrea quilted my A la Mode quilt border with little wiggly lines like this last spring, and since that quilt hangs on the wall above my sewing machine, I kept saying I was going to do a whole quilt like this. (Preferably a small one!) I love how it turned out.
This little guy also has alternating white Bella Solid and Arcadia prints, and is the brother to this Wild Thing quilt over here. Tracy also has a few kits for this quilt over in her Etsy store, and a few Arcadia honey buns (which are pretty tough to find these days).
Note: They sold out FAST, but Tracy just listed some more. Hurry over!
You know the drill- Jelly Filled (and Pint-Sized!) patterns are just 5 bucks for the next 5 whole days over in my Etsy store. As always, $2 shipping on all pattern orders, whether you buy 1 or 10. Or 83. So head on over and check them out, after you tell me which quilt is your favorite, of course. :-)
Nothing like a good ol' two-fer. With Jelly. And Honey?
Yeah, that doesn't really make sense. (Unless you speak fluent Moda, that is.)
Happy Friday!
*note: If the pattern you want sells out during the night/early morning, don't worry! Check back a little later, I'll list some more first thing in the morning. Thanks!
