Yep, you've seen it on many of your favorite quilting blogs, I have too. And I've been sucked in, big time.
What am I talking about? The Farmer's Wife Quilt along, of course!
(Thank you Monica for the awwwesome button)
I had the book on my wishlist for a couple of weeks, and my in-laws gave it to me on my birthday last weekend. (Thank you in-laws!) I'm already a gonner.
Angela and Amanda are to blame for starting this highly addictive group, and all my twitter peeps are guilty of sucking me in. The quilt-a-long is following along the Farmer's Wife book and doing a couple of the 110 six inch blocks each week. Since I'm starting on week 3, I made 6 blocks over the weekend.
It was hard for me not to keep sewing, stay up all night, and make 20. But one reason I am doing this? To take my time on a project. I don't usually do that. Typically, I start a quilt and sew my guts out until the binding is stitched on. This will be a nice change of pace.
I'm using my scrap stash, which mainly consists of Bliss and Ruby, but will be mixing in some other scraps as well. I noticed my stash seems to consist mainly of 4 colors. (Any guesses?)
Block 1
Block 2
Block 3
Block 4
Block 5
Block 6
So, what do you think? Do you want to become a Farmer's Wife? If you are already one, or joining now, let me know! I'd love to keep up with you and your farmer-ing. Wifeing? Maybe we should just stick to saying quilting...
Maybe quilt-along-ing?
Hmm... I'll have to think about this.
After I finish one more block.
This is super addictive...
