Hello there! Thanks for stopping by. I know you have a lot of hopping to do, so I'll keep this short and sweet.
If you are new here, I'm Camille Roskelley, mom to 3 wild boys, connoisseur of Cafe Rio, designer of Thimble Blossoms patterns and half of Bonnie and Camille.
The Moda blog hop this year is all about hometowns. Although I don't live there now, my hometown will always, always be Rigby, Idaho. It's just... home.
In case you are confusing Idaho with Iowa (it happens, believe it or not!) Rigby is in southeastern Idaho, about an hour or so south of Yellowstone National Park. It is a wonderful little town, and was an absolutely perfect place to grow up. I went to Rigby High School, as did my parents, grandparents, and most of my 75 (!) first cousins.
A few of my favorite places:
This is Main Street. Yep, it pretty much always looks just like this. Except the nine months out of the year when it is snowing, that is. I love driving into town when we visit because it looks almost exactly the same as it did when I was a little girl. Although we did get new lamp posts. That was pretty exciting. My mom took pictures and sent them to me. (Thanks mom :-)
I grew up on Bambinos, which are really, extra delicious deep fried pizza pockets. In fact, I actually worked here in high school making Bambinos. (Well, it was a different location then. It's a whole big Bambino thing). I don't think we've ever visited Rigby and not made multiple Bambino trips.
And of course, the Sno Shack. My very favorite high school job, I worked here during the summers with the Porter family and loved every minute. And every sno cone. Tigers Blood and Pina Colada. Heaven. My teeth are still paying for it.
What is your town famous for? Aside from Bambinos? Philo T. Farnsworth, inventor of the television. "Easy on, easy off!"
What brought you to this town? My great grandparents, I think? We tend not to leave town. I probably shouldn't have married a city boy. ;-)
me and that city boy- almost 10 years ago.
Does anyone know what you do for a living? Umm, I don't know. Aside from the fabric ladies at Abbotts, probably not. I know a lot of people here think I go to craft fairs. Which is... kinda close, I guess?
And last but not least, a little treat for you. Courtesy of Moda (thank you Moda!) who was so kind to send a beautiful fat quarter bundle of Marmalade for one of you. All you have to do is tell me which of my patterns is your favorite and your very favorite color to be entered to win. Easy.
(Sorry about the photo not being of a fat quarter bundle- it is 1:51 AM and a new photo probably isn't happening tonight!)
Oh, and if you have your eye on a pattern or two, they are 25% off for one week with code MODA25.
Anything else I was supposed to talk about? Have you ever been to Rigby? Eaten a Bambino? I would give my right arm for a classic right about now. Mmmm....
Happy hopping!
Edited to add: I knew I forgot something! Make sure to visit the other Moda designers posting today, Jan, and Julie then Anne, Kate and Deb tomorrow!
Note to self: Don't blog at 2 in the morning.
