Four weeks ago a box of happy-go-lucky (our newest line of fabric) landed on my doorstep. It was love at first sight.
I've been sewing like crazy ever since, and have 5 new patterns (and 8 quilts) to show you. Finally! Since there are so many photos I'll try to keep the commentary to a minimum. :-) Yes, there are a lot (A LOT) of photos. I'm sure you are shocked.
First up- Fireworks. This is a fat quarter quilt made with 16" blocks. Like Swoon, it is really easy to piece. It is probably my favorite of the new patterns, (at least today).
This sample was pieced by Sherri and quilted by my local quilter, Andrea who both outdid themselves. What would I do without them??
I know this isn't the prettiest picture, but thought you might want to see the whole thing.
Next up is Zipper. This is a Jelly Roll quilt, and with a few tricks is super fast to cut out. I pieced and quilted two of them, one of out of happy-go-lucky-
I quilted this one with pepples and a wiggly design up the middle of each row. This took way too long, but was totally worth it!
And one out of a Denyse Schmidt line, Picnic and Fairgrounds to test the pattern before the fabric arrived. I've had a Jelly Roll of this sitting on my shelf for over a year, so it was fun to finally use it.
I quilted this one with a regular old meandering stipple. I'll always love a meandering stipple.
The third pattern, Juggle, is made out of a brand new Moda pre-cut called Honeycombs. They are pre-cut hexagons that come just like a charm pack, one of each print.
This one looks tricky, but is really quick and easy to piece. No Y-seams, no paper piecing, just a few tricks. In fact, I put the quilt top together in a little less than 2 hours. There are two sizes included on the pattern, one smaller one (shown) that is made from one pack of Honeycomb, and a larger one made from two packs.
I quilted this one on my sewing machine, just used my walking foot and the zig zag stitch and played with the settings until it looked the way I wanted it.
The double take quilts were some of my favorite to make. So simple to piece, and you get two quilts from one Jelly Roll and a Charm Pack. You could also make either quilt with 25 Jelly Roll strips, if you had some lying around.
I quilted this one using this dogwood quilting tutorial from Oh, Fransson. Not the first time or the last time I'll use it. I love it!
Again, a meandering stipple. This one has Moda Snuggles in aqua on the back and is super snuggly. I think Nic might claim this one.
And last but not least, round&round. This is a charm pack pattern and is super fun to piece! My boys actually argued over this one, which rarely happens. Something about ninjas?
I used the leftover pices from my Zipper quilt to make the scrappy binding, and thought it added a lot to the quilt. (If you decide to do it this way, you'll need about 300" of binding.)
I pieced it and at my request Andrea quilted it in a Baptist fan. She's such a good sport! I should probably branch out, but I just love that Baptist fan!
I also pieced this test quilt out of the Moda line Dear Mr. Claus by Cosmo Cricket, and we used it all through Christmas. Nothing better than a striped bias binding, is there?
There you have it! 5 new patterns in the shop, all out of a new fabric line. I have had the best time working on these, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. But hopefully you don't have to make them quite as quickly. ;-) I think I deserve a nap, don't you?
