Almost every day I have at least one person email me about the white solid fabric I use most. Each time I make a mental note to write a post about it. Then you know, I forget.
But not today!
A while back I did a little blurb for the Moda blog about my favorite solids, and here they are. And yes, I buy them by the bolt. I haven't made much of a dent in the red one yet, because I'm saving it for a red and white quilt (that hasn't happened yet, surprisingly enough) but I've gone through several bolts of the aqua, a couple of the gray, and many, MANY bolts of the white.
Here's the gray, in my Coming Soon quilt (which you may recognize as the one Nicholas drags everywhere.)
The aqua solid has been used for bindings (most recently, this), backs, crib sheets, and other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Here's an old photo the crib sheet in action (I can't take a new one since he sleeps in a big boy bed now. Sad.)
The white I use for just about everything (it goes with every one of our lines since Bliss) is Moda Bella Solid in Bleached White 97. I buy this 2 or 3 bolts at a time, and go through them way too quickly. It is the perfect creamy white. Not too stark white, but not cream either. I used this for my Farmer's Wife.
And Swoon.
And my whole book.
And pretty much every other quilt I've made with white in it for the last... 5 years? :-)

I like it a lot, can you tell?
So anyhow, here are the numbers if you need them:
97 (bleached white)
83 (gray)
34 (aqua)
and 16 (red)
