It's unofficially summer over here, and you know what that means. It's that time of year when I go from being outside as much as possible and enjoying the beautiful weather, to staying inside trying to keep out of the ridiculous desert heat. It's also when I get most of my just for fun sewing done each year. (Yay to that part!) But before the triple digits come, I thought I'd mention a couple of fun things that have been going on here and there.
First of all is this quilt right here. This is my Cheerio quilt, and I made it a few months ago for Love Patchwork and Quilting, which is a beautiful new UK based magazine. I haven't actually technically seen the magazine yet, since my issue hasn't made it all the way here quite yet, but I've heard it is on the way!
It's really a lot of fun to make, is made from fat 8ths, and is a mix of April Showers and Scrumptious. The binding is my faaaavorite April Showers navy stripe, and Abby quilted it with one of my new favorite scroll designs. (Thank you Abby!)
For those of you who want to know where you can find it, it will be availble in local quilt shops and some of the big fabric stores and book stores too. It's also available as a digital download on the iPad and other tablets/phones. AND as a special offer, 3 issues for $10 over here. Does that help? Also, there's a pattern for a mini version of the quilt inside too. Of course. How could I resist? :-)
I feel so very lucky to be included in such a great issue and owe a big THANK YOU to Love Patchwork and Quilting! This one is going in a frame.
If you read quilting blogs, you've probably heard about the A Year of Schnibbles (and Another Year of Schnibbles!). In a nutshell, every month Sherri and Sinta pick a Schnibbles pattern (a small quilt pattern desinged by my friend Carrie -mastermind behind THE Miss Rosie Quilt Co) and sew along with other quilters all over the world before sharing them in a blog post at the beginning of the next post. It's a lot of fun, and who doesn't love Schnibbles? Anyway, I was invited to be the guest designer during the month of April, and the quilters had their pick of my mini patterns. It was so great to see what they made! You can see them here on Sinta's blog and Sherri's blog.
This low volume one from Lisa was one of my favorites! I saw it on Instagram and it was love at first sight. (There are also a whole bunch of minis under the hashtag #thimbleblossomsminis on Instagram if you want to see more.) You guys are so clever. Thank you Sherri and Sinta for thinking of me, and everyone who sewed along!
I have another quilt top finish I'll share with you in a few days. I just need to get a few new photos, but here's a hint:
Any guesses?
Have a great week!
